About Us

Step Up New London is a Black and Brown parent-led organization that fights for equitable solutions that address injustices our community experiences in accessing quality education, health care and housing. By addressing community needs and collaborating with community partners. Our purpose is to empower the Black/Brown community throughout N.L. County.

Together we run organizing campaigns utilizing our people-power to advance our solutions and demands.

Trina is a mother of 3 and a grandmother of 2. She has previous experience working with NLPS before coming to Step Up New London. She enjoys being of service to her community.

Communication Specialist

Vicky Torres

Vicky is the mother of a daughter. Before coming to Step Up New London she had been working with families for 20 years. She enjoys helping the community and enjoying time with her family.

Community Organizer

Orrieon Cowes

Orrieon Cowes was born and raised in New Haven CT. He is the proud father of 3 children. He started working for non-profits at the age of 15 cooking for the homeless and church warming centers. Orrieon also volunteered with the Special Olympics.
